The Jersey Shore YMCA was built in 1907, and was originally an independent Railroad YMCA with lodging. The original building consisted of 4 floors and included a basement pool, archery range, gymnasium, stage, 4 bathrooms, two porches and 6 bunk rooms. Around the 1940’s, the back addition a was added to include an additional weight/fitness room and bowling alley. 1985 saw the lower addition added to include the large gymnasium, preschool room, 3 racquetball courts and kitchen. The Bowling Alley operated through the mid/late 90’s and by 2005 was an unused space that served as a teen hangout, which gave light to the Brick Teen program, the largest afterschool teen program in the area. In 2007 the Jersey Shore YMCA joined the newly formed River Valley Regional YMCA association as the 4th branch. By 2012 there was a capital renovation which saw building wide improvements, including: an official Teen Center, Child Watch Center and brand new Wellness Center with Group X room. By 2021 the branch completed a front porch/entry restoration, social room renovation, bathroom improvements, weight room renovation, gym floor refurbishment and Locker room improvements. Through the history of this building the YMCA continues to focus on serving community needs through its programs and spaces. In addition to membership of over 1,000, the Jersey Shore Branch YMCA is home to a 150+ participant basketball program, school age child care, numerous youth sports and activities, and continues to host community organizations such as little league, scouts, Jersey Shore Cheer, a church, Walnut Street Christian School, CCCC’s, Kiwanis Club and as meeting space for other organizations such as the Love Center, bible studies and more. The Jersey Shore YMCA is not just located in the center of the community, it is a community center.

If the Jersey Shore School District is closed or dismissed early due to weather conditions: A decision to cancel afternoon and evening Group Exercise classes along with Child Watch will be made by 2:00 pm.

If the Jersey Shore School District has a delayed opening or is cancelled due to weather conditions: There will be no AM Group Exercise classes.
