Quality early learning programs help lay the sturdy foundation upon which children continue to build their academic, social, and emotional skills throughout their school careers. A strong start in the preschool years sets the stage for every child to do well in life.
Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts is a pre-Kindergarten initiative established by the Pennsylvania Department of Education that strives to make high-quality pre-Kindergarten experiences accessible to children across the commonwealth.
Our Pre-K Counts classrooms:
- Use a standards aligned, Department of Education approved early learning curriculum
- Offer access to health, dental, vision, and developmental screenings through community partnerships at no cost to families
- Offer small class sizes where teachers monitor and track student progress to ensure all children are receiving the instruction and support they need as they develop kindergarten readiness
- Work in partnership with families to ensure a smooth transition to Kindergarten
Currently being offered at the Lock Haven Branch YMCA and Williamsport Branch YMCA Loyalsock Childcare Center, this quality pre-kindergarten program is provided at no cost to families with children ages 3 and 4 who meet the income eligibility requirements.
